Buchart-Horn, Inc. provided services to assist McCandless Township Sanitary Authority (MTSA) in migration from ArcView 3.2 to ArcView 8.x and to link MTSA’s geographic information system (GIS) with their TV inspection truck. This included installation and setup of ArcView 8.x, custom training, migration of projects, and customizations to improve the performance of ArcView 8.x. We were also contracted to provide a link between the Authority’s existing TV Truck Inspection System and the sewer-related GIS layers in ArcView 8.x. This not only included linking of the attribute data collected by the TV Truck crew, but also the ability to retrieve and display any number of images and videos captured for each sewer feature during the inspections. Visual Basic code was written to capture and convert the ASCII data from the TV Truck Inspection, process it in Microsoft Access using various QU/QC restrictions, and import and relate it to the sewer GIS layers in ArcMap. The resulting interface required minimal input by the user and automatically provided a means for retrieving the images and videos from within ArcMap. The code was provided to MTSA at the conclusion of the project allowing them to link new information collected in the future.
