The State of Arkansas as taken a slightly different approach to parcel conversion and we believe these methods will be of interest to other rural communities within America. Under the direction of the Arkansas Geographic Information Office (AGIO) and Arkansas’ Assessment Coordination Division (ACD) the state has managed to leverage several public/private partnerships to develop a cost-effective strategy for the conversion of our land information records (parcel maps) into digital/GIS databases. The County Assessors Mapping Project (CAMP) is now underway in most of Arkansas’ seventy-five counties and several of these counties have already passed phase I and have completed phase II, which includes a complete parcel (polygon) conversion process. This session will review the methods and strategies that have been employed by Ritchie Pierce and the AGIO office in order to jumpstart and maintain this statewide effort with very limited resources.
